As part of the preparation for the UEFA EURO 2024, major construction work has been underway around the Merkur Spiel-Arena since 2022. The home of the Fortuna Düsseldorf football club will receive a 1,000m2 extension under the working title "The Box", which will be used as a modern press center during the tournament and will also be the new entrance area for the business and VIP areas of the arena.

In the future, The Box will also expand the existing VIP areas of the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA and will be used in particular at Fortuna Düsseldorf's home games.

The newly constructed part of the building covers a total area of ​​approximately 1,000 square meters. With a maximum event area of ​​approx. 700 square meters and a clear room height of approx. 5 meters, 'The Box' promises versatile and flexible usage options. A large, light-flooded glass front gives the new building an attractive appearance.
